Francesco 'Frankie' Di Salvo, 88, Of Lodi

LODI, N.J. — Francesco "Frankie" Di Salvo, of Lodi, died Nov. 27. He was 88.

Born in Bagheria, Sicily-Italy, he moved to the United States in 1958, living in Garfield for 10 years before settling in Lodi 48 years ago.

He worked as a team leader on highway construction for Sette Engineering in Paramus and Bar-San Inc., in Hackensack for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member for 55 years of the Laborers’ International Union of North America - Local 472 in Newark. He was a parishioner of both Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church in Garfield and St. Joseph’s RC Church in Lodi, a member of the Lodi Seniors, and the Bocce Club of Garfield. 

He is survived by his wife, Maria (nee Falletta); children, Elvira Di Salvo, Jane Frank and husband Edward and Anthony Frank Di Salvo; grandchildren, Daniel, Jacqueline, Edward Jr. and Nicole; and sisters, Catherine Scalisi and husband Antonio and Maria Di Salvo.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Gaetano Di Salvo, Vincenzo Di Salvo, Francesca Gaipa and Pierina Viscuso. 

The funeral is at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 40 Spring St., Lodi. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.
